Title: SD MP-2 power options

What is a good long term power supply?  Thanks in advance.

I'll wire up a Tekkeon battery for true long running fun at some point but I've run 6 hours on this invention and never seen the light even dim. It's a start at least. Also make sure whether you have a barrrel adapter or 4-pin hirose, mp-2(?)/early mixpre were barrels, the new model mixpre is 4-pin hirose.

Thanks,  this looks like what I need!  Does radio shack carry the barrel adapter?  I appreciate the advice and pics.

Can and MP-2 run off a DVD battery?

It should be able to, yes. It'll run on pretty much anything 5V-18V DC that you can wire to a barrel or hirose adapter(whichever suits your device). I pulled the 5-18V rating off the side of my mixpre, you might check to make sure yours is actually rated the same, I'm not 100% sure if the mp-2 was. That Tekkeon style battery I mentioned I'll wire up at some point is akin to a dvd battery, it's just adjustable voltage.

Thanks Taperj!  Ted is making me a DVD battery cable.  Makes since since I already have the batteries.

PM tgakidis. I'm sure he can build you a cable to run off a 9v dvd battery.


I'm glad to see you picked up the MP-2. It's a nice pre.

Ted is doing up a cable for me!  I am super excited abouth the MP-2, can't wait to take it for a spin.
