Title: Opening up a Tekkeon MP3450
Post by: bhoy on January 21, 2015, 01:22:42 PM
Does anyone have any experience opening up a Tekkeon MP3450?  I'd love to fix whatever is rattling around inside.  There doesn't appear to be any screws on the case, so maybe it's glue'd shut?  I've opened a Palm Lifedrive back in the day by using a little plastic tool that you had to wedge around the seam.

Thanks for any suggestions,
Bill

I cracked open an MP3300.  I assume the 3450 has a pair of screws under the rubber pads on the bottom, closest to the front of the battery.  After that it was carefully prying it apart with a razor knife.  There was adhesive on the battery cells that took some force to pry the cover off.

Good luck!

Ahhh yes, that worked, thank you!  I opened it up enough to see that I have a fairly large capacitor just hanging around loose inside the case.  I'm guessing this battery is done!

But, at least I know, and learning was fun!

No surprise. My experience with those batteries is that they are not built to last for our needs.
