a bit overkill, but there is the discontinued jamhub tracker MT-16.   
DC powered, can do 6 or 8 tracks with just the deck (1/4 inch).   It's not huge...but it's 2x the size of a small handheld 2track.
 but there is a breakout cable
that will take 16 inputs (1/4").  it could be battery powered.
