Title: MicroTrack and Microdrives
Post by: batchain on May 15, 2006, 06:37:45 PM
I have a 4GB Hitachi Microdrive that has an Apple logo on it. I suppose it must have gone into an iPod. I was hoping I could use it in the MT, but it will not complete booting up...it hangs. I tried connecting it to my PC through a CF card reader and it recognizes it, so I reformatted it, but it still won't boot on the MT. Amy ideas on what I could try? Is there something different in a proprietary way about this Hitachi with an Apple logo on it so that it's not compatible?

I have that same drive you do and while I haven't exprienced that particular problem, I've had other problems with it. The MT recognizes it just fine as of v1.3.3.
My problem is that it really hasn't given me a good, flawless recording at 24/48 yet. If it's not missing/dropped bits, it's pops and clicks and other weird happenings. It would be sooo nice to get rid of the liability of a laptop and soley rely on the MT, but as of now, it's not something that's realistic yet. A couple days ago I bought a Ritek 4 gig 80x card. We'll see how that does
You're probably better off staying away from microdrives. Too many moving parts in those tiny things anyway.

Good luck

I pulled  2 - 1 hour sets last night at 24/48 with a Hitachi 4GB microdrive.  Sounds great.  No issues.
This is not out of an iPod though.  Firmware version  :flaming:  1.4.0
