Topic: Bogen 17' 3076 ?? how is it?

i'm looking for a used 17' foot stand, but want it to be kind of sturdy.  i've used one that i really liked back in 2000 for two nights that  i borrowed from a friend, but i forgot what it was all together.

what is everyone's recomendations?  thanks!

its a bit overkill .... but it is fairly compact, very sturdy and wicked tall.

I gots a 17 footer as well and I like it. yeah its over kill but if you want to get high up there you can.

I have a calumet version with speed locking clips not twisty knobs.

I can't imagine ever having to run a stand at 17'....would have to be unstable as hell to boot.

Reading over at Sonic Sense, Nutter tells us not to go very much above head height...  Something about the way the PA is generally aimed at our heads, not 10' above...

But then I gues it depends on what and where you are taping...  A 17' stand I bet is nice during a stadium show...

yeah, i normally like to stay about 8'-9' but i will go as high as i can at a DMB show...  nothing ruins a tape like a 16 yr old girl screaming and or drunks yelling for songs that have already been played in the set.  

Joe: i emailed your friend a few days ago but he said it was sold already...


how stable is this stand up around 15'?  i just want to find a tall stand that is stable to boot.
