Title: Digital Concepts PP-99 battery questions
Post by: skotdee on April 06, 2010, 10:33:05 PM
Dusted off a PP-99 power pack I received in a sale a couple years ago, never used it before. How do you know when it is fully charged? I figured out the lights only come on when the output cable is plugged in. Im assuming when all 3 lights are lit it is full?

Anybody ever use one of these to power an iRiver? The output cable is already hacked and attached to an adaptacable, wondering which tip to use. Think Im gonna take the iRiver in to Rat Shack tomorrow and see if I can find a match.

Any input greatly appreciated!

It supposedly only needs a few hours (4-5 at most??) to charge.  It was confusing for me at first, too.  Yeah, the lights only come on with the output cable is inserted.  It'll run my pmd-661 for a two-set show just fine, although I rarely use it.

P-99 = "N" tip
H120 = "H" tip
Normal polarity

I found that the run time between one light on the indicator and discharge is fast so use caution.  You should be fine with the iriver since it is charging the internal battery but I lost a set when I used it to power my R09hr one night.

I have one of those batteries that I've never used. I assumed it was a dud because the lights didn't come on when charging. D'oh!

How long will it power the R-09HR for? I might have you make up one of those cables for me.

Never did a time test with the r09hr.  I be happy to build you a cable with your desired length.  PM me for details.

That is a sick looking cable.  I wonder if it fits the 661?

Do you know what Radio Shack "Tip Letter" fits the 661?  I know the 660 & 671 use a "M" tip with normal polarity.

I don't know the exact tip letter but I do know it's the same exact size as the JB3, if that helps.  I can swing by RS if need be, as I'm sick of the cable I tried to make for the battery.

PM sent re: sick PP-99->R-09HR cable!

Methinks my earlier-described issues must relate to my crappy cable.   http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=112319.0
