Help with Nak CM300 into Tascam DR-05
« on: June 28, 2018, 05:31:26 PM »
Greetings all and thanks for adding me.  I taped many shows in the late 80s early 90s with my Nakamichi CM300s and DAT.  I decided to give it a whirl again and without much research  :smash: purchased a Tascam DR-05.  I am hoping to tape Widespread Panic tomorrow using the Naks into the Tascam but have nothing to keep the levels from getting too hot (i understand from reading here that it is tough to keep input levels low on the DR-05 at loud concert) and I think it will be loud.  Am I screwed? Do you have any advice/recs for tomorrow and what should I purchase for next time to help with this?  Many thanks in advance for any and all advice.

Oh! this post is old but anyway I will answer regarding my experience.
Im kind of new with the DR05 my previous portable was a R09HR
So, with the DR-05 taped like 3 gigs, the last one, the result was in the verge of clipping, the meters were at 12, and the peak light? yes, blinked a few times,  so, for the next concert I read the manual and used the LIMITER function, seems that it worked with the new recording, levels at 12 and no clipping
I used OKM II R mics, Low cut was not used
have you found a solution or recomedation?
