Title: SanDisk CF Reader
Post by: wbrisette on January 16, 2008, 08:07:55 AM
I bought a Sandisk FireWire 800 Reader, and I have to say, it is very fast. Faster than my portable hard drive that I've been mirroring audio to from the Deva. Has anybody else used this reader? It comes with both a FW800 and FW400 cable, I'm not sure I'm really getting the FW800 speed out of it, but it's much faster than the USB reader I have.

The Sandisk Firewire card reader uses UDMA mode to read compatible Compactflash cards.  UDMA is about twice as fast as the fastest USB readers, which use the PIO method to access the card.

I paid $53 for it. I'm very happy with it so far.

not bad at all for what you get and time saved.
Sounds like it would work great to boot an OS from as well if it supports UDMA.
