Looks like the old HC1 when Sony first introduced their HD camera!

I want to shoot a show with this! $2000 ain't bad. Might be a little cheaper when it finally arrives.

Are there any pro-sumer cameras in the Sony line that shoot 4k?

I can't see a real advantage of 4k.

Right now I use 1080 capture for 720 delivery so I'll have some margin for framing and the ability to do some fake camera moves in post without sacrificing resolution. 4k would add more of the same flexibility.

I have my eye on this one, the baby brother of the one above, with no 4K...

Exactly.  4K opens up a world of possibilities for those of us who shoot with a single camera and are skilled at post production.  Re-framing/moving with no loss of resolution is a HUGE advantage.  It also gives the ability to use software based stabilization, again with no loss of resolution when delivering in 1080 or 720.
And with the development of H265 codec 4K delivery will no longer be held back by bandwidth issues.

But you know, go ahead. Go buy new cams, new pc's, new TV's etc and let the industry fool you.
I'm passing this round :)

I always recommend SD cameras and Church Audio mics. There is no getting better then that.

This topic ain't about mics dude.
Not everybody can afford or has the desire to buy Schoeps...

And of course my post about me still shooting SD on DV tape was a joke.  ;)

So this new tv I've been seeing advertised on TV - the Samsung curved Ultra HD...  Does it make using this new 4K camera a reality now?

Would the TV show off what the 4K camera can do?

Bill
