hi there, I am looking for a remote power solution for running a Naiant Tinybox in the field for those long festival days. I can get 4+ hours out of my Tinybox using phantom power to drive busman bsc1s. All works great and I am very pleased with the setup. I am looking for external battery pack that will recharge the Tinybox so I can get another 4+ hours out of it.

You can't run the TInybox when it is connected to plug in DC power, so I assume you can't run it when connected to an external bettery pack either. Is that correct? If I could just plug in an external battery that would be great.

If that doesn't work, I will just need to recharge it with a battery pack.
Jon tells me any battery pack from 9 - 15 vdc will do the trick.

Any one doing something like this, or have recommendations for a battery pack that would work?

thanks for any help.

This would work and the supplied cable works with the Tinybox!

Awesome, I know it's only 4 months later but are Tinybox owners pretty happy with this purchase? Thank you for an insights.

April --> June = 2 months  ;D

It didn't get much notice but I am planning a crowdfunding project that will as one of its goals get tinybox certified to run on external power:

http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=168550.0

Reharging in the field or finding a nearby outlet to charge with is OK, but being able to run the Tinybox from an external source would be amazing. You could run your recorder and Tinybox from an external battery pack with dual outputs (5v for my recorder, 9-12v for the tinybox). Let;s hpe the campaign is successful!

Thanks Jon, I'll admit I did completely miss that Indiegogo thread until just now. :)

I was ready to post a link to the Indigogo thread but see it's already been done.

I agree. External powering is the only major lacking feature in the tinybox as far as I'm concerned (digital output being at the top of the really-nice-to-have list). I'm almost always just taping for 3-4 hours at a club at a time but once in a while I'm doing more than that or don't have chance to recharge for some reason.

With actives it can run all day at a festival but two long days is stretching it and you never quite know when you're going to have chance to charge at some festivals.

peace of mind. It's one more variable you can gain some control over.

I am solo fn happy I have two kcy lbs. I can power one with 4xAA and the other with 1x9v. On low power they each run around 15 hours which is a full day at a festie per rig. About 25-30gb a day some days. When the tb can be powered via external power it will be monumental for sure. Then you all can have all day power like me for each rig, but smaller than my 4xAA lb. The 1x9v lb is pretty damn small!!! I will eventually pick up a Schoeps KCY VMS. Probably the vms02ib, and comp it hard against my identical sounding kcy lbs and see which I prefer. I've said it numerous times, Jon's lb/tb sound as good as preamps costing $1k easily IMO. YMMV! I will put my mkxx.kcy.lb up against anything out there :)

A kcy Tinybox will run for 30 hours so I don't think you need external power. Could be useful for a p48 Tinybox
