I could get the mt at guitar center tomorrow  :D   and hopefully for onyl $300.   I don't know anyone who has the R1 locally. 

Good point, and they'd probably have a real easy return policy. Might as well do that. I know that my friend's jb3 does have 2 batteries though, and you have at least 1 with yours I imagine, so you could run it off internals. I bet the ADC in the jb3 is no better or worse than the MT.

try and pickup either a ua5 or a ad1000/ad500

they both have the optical out that you 'need' and provide a great a>d.

using the jb3 for anything but a data dump is just plain hard to do, good luck if you continue down that road.

i have a vms02ib and i run it into either of the two apogee's mentioned above.
