Comparison SP-CMC-8:cardioids/SP-BMC-12: binaurals

here a comparison of the same artist+same song at 2 different venues:
SP-CMC-8:cardioids

SP-BMC-12: binaurals 99$

of course there are better binaural mics, but you hear the difference between binaurals(more "bassy") and the clear cardioids sound of the more expensive SP-CMC-8.
I got the SP-BMC6 and have the same problems with low frequencies which screwed my recordings several times yet.

The two venues could easily produce very different results, especially on the bass front. Also, the omnis WILL have more bass cause of the proximity effect of the cards won't they, so you're results are completely expected. Why not just rolloff the bass while recording or in post if it has "screwed" you. Pretty easy to mop up muddy bass in post with a little EQ...

a REALLY "bassy" recording can´t be improved  in post production, the bass sounds less present but is still "boomy" after reducing the low frequencies in the equalizer, i tried it with cool edit pro 2.

so its more important to really use a battery-box with bass-roll off BEFORE the sound hits the mini-disc ;)!
