« on: October 10, 2007, 03:48:46 PM »
http://www.file-upload.net/download-441130/R_LINE_000706.mp3.html

It´s a Herbie Hancock tune called "Butterfly".(jazz-rock-funk)
I had a seat 4 meters in front of the left stack.
+10dB internal iriver gain on my rockboxed iriver H120.
;)

Sounds Good!
what was your external pre set at?
did you have AGC enabled on the iriver?
DPA 4061's > CA-9100>(3wire)>R-09HR

NO external preamp....used the internal H120 preamp at +10dB only.
My 12 Volt keychain bbox powered the mics with 11V...measured it with my multimeter today after the show.
Manual gain set to +10dB and "safety-clip" checked levels and would have lowered gain IF clipping had occured.

The 1st set I started at +15dB gain and safety-clip lowered gain to +10dB, that´s why I started the 2nd set of the show at +10dB and in the end of the show gain was still at +10dB =>which means no safety-clip kicked in during the 2nd set.

The latest rockbox builds imply a "clip-counter" on the recording screen ...counting clippings during a recording from 0(not 1 clipped part in the recording) until numerous....;) better learn to handle your gear(gain) more carefully ;).

Sounds great!

How loud was this show you reckon? I've got Rush coming up fast and I'm thinking of putting +12 gain on Iriver h120.

well it was a small club and sitting only 4m in front of the left stack makes it hard to compare which larger "boomy" indoor venues where everything is different.

I guess +10dB would be a good starter for RUSH..always depending on where you place yourself....close to the stacks in the crowd-noise or somewhere near the soundboard....less crowd-noise but more "boomy" with omnis.

I'm using MM-HLSC cards and I'm about 20m away from stage (seated venue).

ok, starting at +12dB gain seems ok.
I always started at +15db with the HLSC-1 for rock shows in big arenas BUT in the end gain was at about +10db and I never was that close to the stacks...always at the soundboard 30-40m distance to the stage.
4061 and HLSC-1 have similar sensitivity 6mV(DPA 4061)/8mV(HLSC-1)..so your HLSC-1 are a little more sensitive.
Use +12dB with "saftey-clip" engaged and you will love your recording ;).
good luck dude! ;).
