All the discountinued models are the ones they were having made in China. I wonder if they decided to stop producing in that country. All the models they currently list are hand assembled in California.

i bet they do.

if you are local to New England, Janka here on the section has a sweet pair of stands for his vr1's, which he no longer owns.  i'm sure he'd let em go.

Yes, I sure would. They are Target Audio HR-60's, not the actual VSA stands. My VR-1's did fit them perfectly though.  http://www.targethifi.co.uk/4598/4790.html

All of these models are still available at www.NewForHalf.com. These are apparently the last new stock available at liquidation prices. And, this same seller has been advertising on Audiogon.com and Ebay.com.

VR-1s arrived today, exactly 7 days after I mailed the Money Order. Warren at newforhalf was great to deal with and speakers sound fantastic behind my Arcam amp so far. Can't wait till they get broken in a little more. Most of the discoloration is on the underside of the speaker as well  ;D

next step is building some stands in the next few weeks

i emailed back and forth with Warren - he took a day or so to respond each time but always answered my questions. i asked about pickup but he prefers to ship. nice guy and great prices - they take paypal as well but you need to cover the fees. im curious to see what other gear they have once they clear out the von schweikert stuff

he didn't have any more Vr-1s when i 1st contacted him a few weeks ago and just had one or two pairs of the B-stock - not sure if he has any of the b-stock still.

i've only had them one night but am very happy with my purchase so far :)

yeah mine are B-stock

they have some graying on them from being placed in the bags too soon after the finish was applied but 90% of the discoloration is on the bottom of the speaker so you can't even tell  ;D speakers were brand new otherwise, still in the factory boxes and velour bags

Albert has had a shipping container sitting in customs for a while now because he cannot afford to get the shipment out, thus the discontinuation of the overseas made speakers. Good speakers, bad businessman unfortunately.

Floods are accidents, but when you don't have a plan to recover, ample insurance, or a sound profitable business beforehand that's what I call fucking up your operations.

Taking an attitude with everyone who can't or won't help you out after is also not a good idea.  I've got alot of good friends from Watertown, and they'll tell you it was well publicized that he burned bridges about as fast as a man can in a small town.

Great speakers, I love mine, just a poor businessman all around it seems.

Someone on here got a pair for under $400 shipped to them.  That is a steal in my book.  I paid more for mine used!

A small, young company that designs, builds, and sells niche-market loudspeakers is lucky to be in business in the first place!  Beyond that I have to give him the benefit of the doubt, especially considering an insurance company was involved.

oh, I still love the M2's, but I do have to say, the VR1s are no slouch.

If I got a pair of vr1s for rears, I'd still keep the m2s.  I'd just figure out some other use for them :)

he was pretty slow about responding to emails when I got my pair last month. at that point he had No VR-1s left and only had one or two pairs of B-Stock left, I doubt he's got any at this point but you may just need to drop him another line. good luck - I'm loving my pair

I dropped him a few emails. I think he has one pair of black VR-2's and thats it. Everything he had left was on ebay about a month ago. The 2's did not sell, he may still have them.

fwiw, factory warrantys were not included with anything he sold.
