UA5 can run on 9-12 volt and suck about 500mah w/ phantom so 10+ hours on this battery.

I bought it and can't get it to work.  Do I just need an adaptaplug?  (The one that comes with the battery fits the plugs but it's not working.)

Importantly, if you're using this battery to power a UA-5, you need to remember that your cable must swap the polarity of the battery from what the wiring 'normally' calls for.  You won't damage your UA-5 if the polarity is swapped, but it won't power on.

Thanks.  Is there any way I can swap the polarity without buying a new plug?  The plugs that come with it seem to fit the UA-5, but I assume the polarity is wrong because as you said, the power won't turn on.

Yeah, just cut the wires and swap them.  I also did that on a battery that I bought that has the wire integral with the battery and it worked fine.  Someone recommended that if the wires are connected to the battery when you cut, that you want to take care when you snip the wires and snip them one at a time rather than just whacking the wire in two.  If you just whack the wire with cable cutters, they said you could cause a short and maybe that wouldn't be good for the battery if the battery has a charge.  Makes sense so I just took some care and snipped the two wires one at a time.

If it is the cable that came with the initial battery just put the ua-5 connector on reversed. (- to +, + to -). No need to cut the cable.  Also deadheaded makes a real nice power cable if you want a bit more piece of mind. But the adaptaplugs work fine.

the cable that came with my initial doesn't work like that

Another thing that happens with these batteries is that if you do short them out, they will shut down, and won't have any output, until you reset them by plugging in the charger for a second.

Always plug the cable into the recorder/preamp first, and then plug in the battery end last.

If you add a fuse in line you don't have to worry about this which I always do just in case.
