Powering the Korg MR1000 - anyone know what plugs?
« on: January 21, 2008, 10:46:13 PM »
Hi all -

Just got my Korg MR1000 - yipee!  Now it's off to Busman for mods, but while I wait I'm trying to kludge an external powersource.  I know the Batterygeeks comes with a suitable adapter, but I have a Tekkeon Allpower (actually 2x) that I'd prefer to use.  None of the standard plug adapters from there work on the MR1000 (grrrr) so i was wondering if anyone knows if the plug on the Korg is the same as something else, like a Dell computer or such.

I've already hacked together a combo of a ratshack 2 pin (which fits the Tekkeon) with one of those locking thingys for my Mixpre, so I'd be willing to do the same here if anyone knows what plugs fit.

Thanks in advance!

i was thinking about haching my wall wart for the connector and then soldering a mini xlr to the connector so i can use it for both the wall wart and battery. what mod does busman have for the unit? attenuator? it runs kinda hot.

Hi Prof -

The Busman mods basically clean up the preamp stage, similar to what Doug Oade does.  He has similar mods for the Fostex FR2LE, word on the street is they make a big difference.  If you search the retail section, you'll see his post about his mods.

Can anyone confirm that a BatteryGeek 10-14-88 will work fine with the Korg MR-1000?
And if so, do you still run internal batteries. The unit runs off the internals first, then the external.
If the 10-14-88 runs for 6+ hours, do you need to use internal batteries at all? I already have the
Energizer rechargeable Lithiums, but they are a pain to recharge fast. I need something that
can last an entire weekend for Summer Festivals -- like two 10-14-88's

thanks in advance.
