Title: transferring shows with a mac
Post by: jmerin on January 20, 2018, 12:04:10 PM
Hi all, what are people using to transfer shows on macs? I just got one from work and I am not sure what is best to use.

Looking for the following:

Converting from 24 to 16bits
48 to 44.1

converting to flacs and tagging.

Thank you!

I have taken to just using Sound Studio to normalize and track and then xAct to create FLACs but I only post 24 bit st this point. Sony had a deal on Soun Forge pro with the iZotope plugins a while back and I use that if I want resample and dither etc. Audacity works fine too...

I use Audacity for the 48 > 44.1 & 24> 16 conversions, XLD for file type conversion and xACT for fixing SBEs and tagging.

MBP> Audacity(normalize/amplify/resample/track/fades)> Wave(16)> XLD> FLAC> xACT(fixSBE/tags)

audacity to mix sources (reaper is another program people use.  I just never sat down to learn how to use it.
sound forge pro for tracking, resampling and dithering
xAct for basically everything else.  flac, fix SBEs, tagging, creating ffp file

I use Reaper for multitrack editing and any and all "mastering."

I use Sound Studio for fades and tracking

izotope for SRC and Dither

xact for tagging and flacing
