Firewire Drive Help
« on: October 17, 2002, 10:20:33 PM »
OK, so I have this Maxtor external firewire drive and I cannot for the life of me get Win2k to recognize it.  Anyone who helps me out gets a dedicated login to my server (with this drive it makes about 100 gigs of shows)

This may be a stupid suggestion but is it plugged into the wall?  I know some drives require straight AC (esp. the big ones, i.e. >80 gigs).  So...check the connections between the drive and computer and the drive and the wall.

Hmm...that's weird.  You sure it's formatted and you have the drivers installed?  If so, I might be stumped...

p.s. I'm guessing you have tried the start->settings->control panel->add/remove hardware.

Alright, I'm reaching but does the drive work with any of your other machines?

Drive worked with THIS machine before I had to reformat and install a new OS.

Okay, is that the DiamondMax 60?  Is it a Fireball?  Is there a specific model number on the back on the unit?
