Alesis m1 MK2 active Monitors
« on: April 16, 2003, 11:20:54 PM »
Are these any good?  I see a pair on ebay for around 300, and I am looking to upgrade my playback system.  Any help would be most appreciated.  I got a chance to listen to them the other day, and was quite pleased.

They aren't bad, but check around on price! You can buy these new from a dealer for around 2-250. I picked up a pair of the unpowered vesions for $189, and they had the active set for 45 more.

Soundwise, they aren't going to compete with 3K dollar studio monitors, but they beat the hell out of a lot of other lower end monitors.

I've been demoing monitors for about a month now in a local shop.

IMO the Events blow all the others out the water!!

i've heard about 10 diff sets recently and I keep going back to the Event 20/20bas model.
these are the powered model...so no outboard gear needed.

I'm going to go with the 20/20's and a mackie 1202 for my playback.
