dpa 4061 homebrew battery box?
« on: July 10, 2003, 05:44:43 PM »
I think I remember seeing somewhere  that you can build a battery pack to power DPA 4061's. Anybody got any info, personal experience, or websites they could share with me? Any help would be
grately appreciated.
Thanks
Tad

Len does this:

www.core-sound.com

I bought the DPA MPS-6010. Good enough for me, except no high-pass filter. I got some wicked slam at Ozzfest yesterday, a bit too much, methinks! But typically, you won't use the bass filter. Or, I wouldn't.

I hear you can get all the parts for it at Rat Shack except the metal casing itself, but i listen to metal, my hearing can't be all that good ;D

well, I wouldn't be able to do it, unless maybe I had one premade sitting next to me to study, and even then...

This should work with all of the 406x series. Credit goes to someone on the team DPA group, not me. I'm gonna build one of these for a friend once he gets the cables on his 4060s fixed.

If you build and find any particular capacitors and resistors that sound good, I'd like to hear about them. Many in the audiophile community on audioasylum swear by Black Gate caps in their gear, but I haven't found any recommendation for resistors yet.

Edit: it looks like the schematic is for one channel - you'll need to do it twice in a battery box.

What purpose does the 100K ohm resistor serve?  I'm not sure I am remembering my electro-physics right, but doesn't the current take the path of least resistance so no current would go throught it.

Just from looking at the diagram, I think it bleeds the capacitor so that you don't get a buildup of charge when the mic or the output is unplugged.

what happened to the picture???  bring the picture back please!!

anyway, the mics need 91k ohm resistance so that's what the 100kohies are for, yeah

Uh, the thread's a year old.  The picture has long since been deleted (probably due to pr0n). ;)

i'm also curious to see that picture, but it will probably be similar to this
(schematic of the MPS6030)
http://www.solorb.com/dat-heads/digests/V6.000/D079#Msg3

also, here is a schematic to power the mics from 48Volts (DAD6001 ?)
