Nope. That's an optical splitter. You want a coax splitter: 1 RCA > 2 RCA. Radio Shack has 'em (http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=274-501).

thanks a bunch and +T.

FWIW you definantly dont want to ever use one of those optical splitters with a jb3 either
they work for md's but the jb3 cant handle the "split" signal, and has alot of issues with dropouts and stuff like that
-
thanks for the heads up.

I picked up one of those opti spliters but haven't tried it yet. You say that it's problematic w/JB3 but not MD. Why would there be a distinction? Both are reading opti sourced digi info... (that's real technical :P ) I really don't know jack about how the red light is interpreted by the device. Must be something quite diferent in the hardware between the two devices...
Prolly because it needs a certain light level? When you split it, it is going to get half the light. Remember reading somewhere that you can split once, but you need to run it thru a dat next in the chain to bring the level back to where it should be... Check the FAQ...

its just that the jb3 needs the better signal to keep from havong dropouts. i guess a md deck isnt quite so picky on its signal, but i do know those splitters can cause some serious probs with your jb3 recordings
