My new mic stand is... well... big
« on: July 22, 2019, 03:33:42 PM »
Wasn’t really paying close attention to the dimensions when I bought what I thought was just a slightly nicer light stand for my rig... ended up with this diesel thing.

I guess on the plus side it’s real sturdy and will get up real high above the chompers. Also plenty of space for other tapers to clamp on at festivals.

Am I stupid to think this bulky thing is worth keeping or should I just return it?

This is the stand https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LTS1--adj-lts-1-portable-lighting-tripod-stand-with-side-bars

  • If it's too loud, turn it down.

14 pounds? I would return it and get that Photek stand everyone here has.

Preamps: Mixpre-D, Nbox Platinum ABS

Is the photek much of an improvement over this one? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/89688-REG/General_Brand_LS_10AB_10_AC_Light_Stand.html

That’s what I already have, was looking for one a bit bulkier and taller

Supports 100 lbs?  Just a little bit overkill.

I'll repeat my usual recommendation: Manfrotto 1004BAC, and a STX lacrosse stick bag to carry it in.
I am hitting my head against the walls, but the walls are giving way.
