Advice on recording jamming session
« on: December 18, 2008, 12:15:47 PM »
Sorry I know I have another similiar posting. I am actually want to record my own jamming session that I have with my friends. Because we like to do free jamming. Recording the session I felt was quite essential. I am intending to get Edirol CS-15 Microphone for recording my own jamming session, any advice ? What are the pros and cons ( more important) of this mic ? And also what kind of recorder I should use and is there any other equipments such  pre amps that I can look at ? I stay in Singapore and I hope there are websites that do international shipping or better still a local distributor that I can contact. Thanks !

Budget?
Do you have a recorder already?
What are the inputs?
Does it supply 48V phantom power?
Do you have a stand?
Shockmount?

You could always just buy a decent all in one like the Zoom H2. Recorder/Mics all in one.

Thanks for the rely ! Right now I am still on the hunt for a good recorder to at least have a clear recording of what we had played. I was actually deciding whether to get the Belkin TuneTalk Stereo for my IPOD or zoom h2. Budget wise, I still on the hunt for 2nd hand equipment at my local music forum. If I get the Belkin, then I might need an external microphone. *Sigh* I am still a newbie so I am kinda lost still. Budget wise is that I do not wish to get the wrong stuff and have to spend extra money. *Sigh even more*

Go for the H-2. It is easy to use and it has 4 microphones allowing you to record in three different settings:
