Topic: adapter stuck in shockmount

this is a real stupid one, but i got a 3/8->5/8 adapter stuck in my shockmount and i can't get the thing out , with this in there, i can only use one of the t-bars i have...any tips/tricks for getting it out, i have tried pliers but i can't get a good grip on the adapter.  thanks.

You'll ruin the threads, but if you use a pair of needle nosed pliers, and stick them into the hole in the middle and spread them, you'll get it out.

Helps to have someone to hold the mount so you can use both hands on the pliers.

i had that happen, and it needed to stay so i left it.  but it later came out, i just tighened it real tight, left it, and it worked its way off..  i think the plyers will work, i take it the place where you put the screwdriver thing in is in the top?  keep trying.  good luck.

drill bit w/ reverse threads... that's what I had to use.  It didn't end up damaging anything, cause it wasn't in there that badly... too badly by hand, but no problem with a drill w/ reverse threads.  I think this is the same bit Moke is talking about.

You might also try putting it in the freezer for a few minutes.  The cold will help the metal parts contract.

Your adapter doesn't have that handy notch in it which you can take a big screwdriver to and unscrew it out easily?   The 3/8 to 5/8 adapters that came with my 'Lux shockmounts do so they are easy to get out even when stuck in there pretty good.

If it does have a notch and the adapter is notch side in, you might be able to use a bent paperclip to turn it out... Good luck

for last effort, you can take a chisel that's about the same width as the stuck adaptor and gently tap it down and try to unscrew it out.

Put super glue on a bolt and screw it in. Wait for the glue to dry. Twist it out. Put the bolt and adapter in acetone to separate them.

This is exactly what I did when I got my adapter stuck in a tbar.  I put some super glue on my stand and screwed the tbar back on.  20 mins later I had a permanently attached thread adapter to my stand and an adapter free tbar.
