Nylon bags ala Ecocharge??
« on: April 11, 2004, 01:56:03 PM »
I was looking for some nylon bags similar what Ecocharge uses for some SLAs.  Does anyone know if Ecocharge sells them by themselves or maybe another place to get them w/out the extra Eco-surcharge? thanks

I have heard people say that REI or other camping outlets have many of those types of cases in different sizes to carry camping stoves, etc.  Maybe you can find something that works in one of those type places.  ???

I've been looking for the same thing and have had no luck thus far.  My dad had one he bought like 10 years ago which has a zipper but the zipper is broken so I can't use it.   It was made by Lenmar but it is looking doubtful they make them anymore.

Found some cool little padded bags at REI.  Fits the SLAs nicely.  I like the handle, too.

$12 a piece, not cheap but they seem well built.  You can fit either one or two 7ah 6V SLAs in a bag or one 7.2ah 12V SLA.

That's an Ecocharge 6V 7ah on the left, same battery in the Eagle Creek bag in the middle, and a 12V 7.2ah on the right.

Thanks.  How many batteries are you going to have?  The 3 I brought to Vegas got heavy REAL quick.

              ___ 3200mah 7.2v rc pack
ua5 -----------3200mah 7.2v rc pack
              ----- 3200mah 7.2v rc pack

JB3 < radio shack thingy @ 4.5v < 4.5ah 12v sla

Yeah, I'm using the ratshack cigg. adapter power supply doodad.  It runs off a 12v.  Need to figure out a way to run it off a 6v, well, at least power the JB3 off a 6v and save the 12v for the UA-5.  Kind of the opposite of what you're doing I guess...

can you try out the 6v w/ the jb3 to see if it works, thats what i would like to do.  1/2 the wieght right there

also I cant seem to get more than 6 hours off a 12v 7.2ah sla for the ua5 hence the rc packs.  what are you gettin for run times of your 12v?

6 hrs off a 7.2ah 12v seems pretty low to me.  You should get around 13 hrs I believe.  7200 / 450 = 16hrs * .8 = 12.8 hrs.

I'm getting easily over 8 hrs using a 7.2ah 12v and also running the JB3 off the same battery.

The car adapter says input 11v - 16v so I don't think a 6v would work.  I guess I could hook the adapter up and measure the voltage it's supplying....

weird, i assume your TL's draw way more phantom power than my mk012's.  yea my estimates were ~12 hrs.  Maybe i need to try some more tests.  RC packs are going to be much lighter though.

Would you mind checking the car adapter some time to see if it can work off a 6v.  now i  remember it saying it takes 11-16v.
