Topic: What do I need to test my used 9 volts?

forgive the dopey question, but I am not all that familiar with the more electronic side of the gear. I am using 9V alkalines in my PS-2 and AD-20, and I'm sure I can get about 3 shows out of them, but I'm not willing to take a chance and start a new show with a battery that may not necessarily make it through. Of course, I'm sick of throwing away batteries that most likely could do another show.

How would I test the 9V to see if they have enough juice left? Would a cheap rat shack multimeter (like this) do the trick? And then from there I guess I could see what voltage triggers the low batter light, and just make sure I'm well above before starting a show? Thanks!!

or better yet, ditch the alkys and get a rc deal. i think it's about the same price, and no more batts to buy.

yeah I was thinking about that, but they're not all that expensive in bulk, and for an inexperienced dude like me, it seems there's a large enough chance of me frying something to make it not worth it.

i don't think you need to worry about frying anything. i had the same concerns when i built my ps for the mx-100. if i used it more, i'd definatly go the rc route. not sure if i could run it and the art pII off the same batt or if i'd need two?

as far as the almost dead batts go, you got friends that could use them in a radio or something? maybe even could get them to trade a new set for so many not so new?  just an idea.

RadioShack sells (or did sell) inexpensive battery testers. 

Although, I'd rather see you go with a rechargable solution.  You'll save money and the landfill will grow just a little more slowly.

Went to The Shack over the weekend and got a nice middle of the line multimeter, will be useful for taping and setting up speaker stuff, etc. Come summertime, I will make myself a nice setup with some of the RC Car 9V packs. Can one of you answer my question about voltages on the other thread? THanks
