noah, go back to your ark

It was only a few months ago that a manager for a music venue created a login here and started asking how people concealed their gear.

Feel free to make a post asking for advice over pm.

Otherwise, prepare for the hoff.

^^^^^^^This.
Although we generally need to agree/comprehend that newbies may be legitimately seeking information, we also need to be able to explain to said newbies why this is such a "hot topic" here.
To the OP, I suggest looking at the many other threads which correspond with this one, and then "read with your third eye" to determine which gear or advice meets the needs of your recording situation. Also, if you lurk here at least 3-4 months, it is relatively easy to note who or which tapers are doing the most work and what type of music they post (and where they post it). Again, reading with your third eye, they might be the types to ask questions of via PM.
I have found in many, but not all situations the head can be advantageous over the collar, but whose head and whose collar?
music IS love

When you get confused, listen to the music play!

My wife and I went to downtown Sacramento for beers at Fieldwork this weekend.  As we were walking through midtown I looked over and said "Is that a David Hasselhoff shirt you are wearing?"  Shit if she wasnt wearing some tight bad ass Hoff shirt with Knight Rider across it.  She went on and on about the crush she used to have on him as a little girl.  I meant to take a pic.

Collar is nice as you don't have to keep your head still but I always use my hat.

If Noah’s going back to his ark that doesn’t bode well for us.

Head. Always.

Cables are no problem.

Seriously. If cables are a problem, you better stop stealthing.

Just stick your recorder on the lip of the stage and use internals.   :iamwithstupid:

“So I rigged up the inside of a basketball that I cut in half, with all the gear laid out inside and taped down, buttons up, and I had a girlfriend who’d strap this on under a puffy blouse and go in pretending to be pregnant! We had wires snaked up the arms to lavalier [clip-on] mikes on her shoulders, or on either side of a hat that I rigged up. She went to the bathroom, turned it on in the stall, walked back out to the front and we were taping!"

The good ol' days...

A lot of people run a race to see who is the fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

It's usually best to draw an imaginary line between your head and your anus and then place the mics as far along that line away from the anus as possible.
