Title: Adobe Audition- Monthly/Annual Only? No actual Purchase?
Post by: Mr.Fantasy on May 23, 2017, 12:24:06 PM
Am I reading this correctly that Adobe Audition isn't really available "for purchase" but more "for lease"?

I am thinking of moving beyond Audacity and think this is the program for me.

I personally don't see the value in "subscribing" to software unless you're going to use it A LOT and need the frequent updates.

Personally I'm still using Wavelab 6. It works fine for me. I see no need to upgrade as I haven't seen any features in newer software that will help improve my recordings.

How did you decide on Audition? I've heard it's fine, but just curious what made you pick it vs. something else.

My reason for Wavelab:

1. Allows you to use plugins (I use Waves plugins to EQ and add compression).
2. Easy mixing of multiple sources.

Yes you have to "lease" Audition. You can get a two week trial for free. I tried it but couldn't justify the yearly cost when there are other solutions for much less.

A few years back Adobe released all of their old products via their website with keys. I've since used the Wayback Machine to visit that page to download Audition 3.0.

I like the look/feel and the fact that there seems to be a lot of videos out there with training/educational content. I am by no means an expert at all (beginner really) but the program made sense to me from what I saw, was very fast, has a cool spectrum view...and it just seemed to work really well.

Admittedly, I have not tried other programs other than Audacity.

wavelab 6 opens files larger than 2gb.

^^ You don't even need the Wayback Machine, although you do need to get an Adobe ID.  https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs2-product-downloads.html?promoid=19SCDRQK (https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs2-product-downloads.html?promoid=19SCDRQK) under (presumably) English...
