*Got a* Telefunken ELA M 260 field kit
« on: March 14, 2013, 11:22:56 AM »
Anyone on here use these? I have a 722 and R44, would you recommend anything else to use with these mics, or would they be good to go directly into either of these?

Check out the Team Telefunken thread as recommended. Local cable maker Ted recently got some after an extensive test period with a loaned set.

I love the name and think they are worth having just to say it! (yes I'm a dork). Don't have any yet myself but kind of think it's just a matter of time  :P

Besides that, I hear they make decent recordings...

Ive had a set for over a year, love them. They would sound great into the 722 i think. I run them with a Sonosax and Ad2k+. Ted runs same setup...here are a few links to my recordings.

Check out the My Morning Jacket show in Philly on Aug. 29, 2010.  It is one of the best audience recordings I've heard!

I've heard some things I've really liked from these.  I'd love to be able to put some through the paces.  It's too expensive an experiment to just wander into though.
Gear:
Audio:
Schoeps MK4V
Nak CM-100/CM-300 w/ CP-1's or CP-4's
SP-CMC-25
>
Oade C mod R-44  OR
Tinybox > Sony PCM-M10 (formerly Roland R-05)
Video: Varied, with various outboard mics depending on the situation

I figure since I just started a diet that I would use the money I would have spent on junk food for the remainder of the year(or three) I'd spend on some new gear  :P

Thats what i thought but i was at the Namm show in in 2012 and came across the Telefunken booth, they gave me a great "show" price and i pulled the plug and said fuck it. turned out to be a great buy IMHO,

I still make PS's for these as well - I currently run a quad channel version  of the PS that I run a pair of m260s and a pair of m221b's into and then into a Tascam HS-p82 - the m260's are great mics

haven't seen that before, but it's more for health reasons. With an added benefit of more money saved.

I don't know the number but if it was great I probably would have done that too...  That one reason I don't go to places like that...   Lead us not unto temptation and all that...

They do seem relatively versatile but to my ear like other really good mics there are certain things they seem to excel at.

Thats a good deal. The finish on those 260's is actually the "field kit" finish, the grey. The studio finish is a cream white.
