Just a quick question about miking some rather uncommon instrumentation:

I was given the go-ahead for filming the solo set of the front-man of one of my favourite bands in January 2016.

The instrumentation at these solo shows will be very different from that of his main band and their various side-projects. Basically, it will feature spoken words, monophonic plain chant, hurdy gurdy, floor tom and bodhrán drums.

What sort of mics (or arrays of mics) would you use for this specific setup? I've got cards, subcards and omnis available and would be tempted to try out some sort of Faulkner array (cards + omnis). However, as the musical genre will be mostly drones + tribal drumming, I'm wondering if omnis might not be appropriate (as the lower end frequencies might be too dominant in the mix)?
