Hello,
What retailer would you recommend purchasing new DPA 4061's & a MMA6000 from? I realize that there probably won't be a significant price reduction available under what you would pay compared to purchasing directly from DPA but I'd rather not pay retail prices for new equipment if it could be at all avoided. I checked with Oade and their prices were within one dollar of DPA's. I'm looking for a knowledgeable, reliable dealer with integrity that will give me a decent price break and excellent service for the long haul. I hope to add 4022s or 4011s to the arsenal within the next 15 months as well as a 722. Any suggestions?
Also I heard someone mention a miniature dpa cardiod mic in the works. Does anyone have any update on that possibility?

Forget retail. Keep an eye on ebay. I saw some being sold by 200$ and they were matched in a 1/8'' jack!
These are somewhat common there...

Although I do use Ebay I do not want to use ebay for this purchase. There probably aren't many DPA MMA6000s up on eBay. I want an authorized dealer that I can establish an account/buying relationship with for the long run as indicated in my post.
So, I have almost identical price quotes from DPA & Oade (within one dollar). I have not yet managed to get Core-Sound on the phone. What other "good" choices do I have?
thanks,
David

I'd go with DPA. If you want the original unmodified mics/connectors, I'd say it'd be best just to go with the producer. I've looked around at different times, & prices don't seem to vary much.
As far as CoreSound, do a search here at TS for the prevailing opinion.

No idea if they'll give a better quote than you've received, but they've sometimes had good prices in the past on some gear:

sound pure is great,
and www.sweetwater.com is great as well. Ask for Chris Koehler and he will hook you up.

IMO, avoid coresound, I have had real bad luck with them on 3 service issues. Loooooong turnaround time, not answering e mails, etc. Plus, I think that they put their gear together poorly. My "binuaral mic" set went down on me 3 times, first on warranty, second and third on my dollar for the fixes. Each time the time I sent them in to the time I got them back was 3 + weeks. Like I said, my experience. I have some friends who swear by their products and service. When I got my 4061's, I did the EBay thing. Any one of the reputable dealers will work on mics purchased elsewhere. I got the set, and got it all configured for high spl shows for under 500. If you think that it's a better deal to pay 1100 for new ones, you got a lot more than I do.
good luck!

nice that you are looking into the 4061's. they are the best mics I have had. I would do the Ebay thing. I bought mine from ebay back in about June. I got em for $285 from a guy in Colorado who had em in his studio. He also did the 1/8 jack for me. You can find the deals on there.

he wants to use an mma6000.
mma6000 will not work with 1/8 or lemos, only with the propreitary microdot. Another reason to buy new.(youd have to send to DPA anyway or core sound because the micros are a PITA to solder)
-
AVOID coresound!!!!!!!!!! len is an ASSHOLE!!!!!!!!!

Cascade Media all the way! Frank is good people!

Glad that you got lucky on eBay but I won't be rolling those eBay dice for recording equipment! I want an authorized dealer that I can establish an account/buying relationship with for the long run as indicated in my post...

no problem. I dont fault you at all for buying new. Other than buying from Audio Forums, I dont buy used either. About 80% of my stuff is new now. Ebay ..dont trust em.

Great price, and great selection. I love my 4060s and MMA6000. I use them for open taping and stealth taping, and I think they excel at both applications, especially for the price. Welcome to Team DPA +T

Thanks for the welcome! PM sent to you.
