Title: Audio Alchemy's DTI opinions?

Anyone have any thoughts on Audio Alchemy's DTI, Digital Transmitssion Interface, jitter reducer?

I think jitter is a CD thing?

I had a DTI - used it to bypass SCMS - and format conversion...runs on a proprietary power supply...not DC...low AC.

They're old...at least 10 years...

Jitter can appear on any digital interface, not just from CDs.

I never had a DTI.  I knew someone who had one and he liked it alot.  I think he was using it ahead of a DDE2.0 but eventually swapped out for a theta box.  I had a DDE1.0 but went with another DAC before I could try the DTI.

There were a couple of versions of the DTI.  I think the one to get is the 2 stage device (DTI pro-32 or something like that).  I'm not sure if it would affect the DTI, but the AA DACs were widely reported to perform much better with the power supply upgrade.  The DTI does strip SCMS.  I used my DDE to perform format translation from optical to coax.

They seem to be pretty cheap these days so why not try one.  I think that AA is long gone but the chip in there should be that Crystal Semicondutor chip and not much else.  I never heard of one gone bad.

I just got one, and I am thinking of using it to take the signal from the SBM-1 > DTI > JB3, so I don't get the clicks on the JB3 from the SBM-1.

Note - I think this runs on AC...it does have a wall-wart type box...but I think it makes low AC...

(double check on this...it may have been 2 DC rails...I forget..)

It takes 9v, and I can make a rc pack to power it.  Plus it has an extra digi output for patchers.

Seems like I remember the power supply terminated in a 1/8 stereo mini jack - - - so perhaps it uses two rails...?

This the power supply that my DTI and DAC used...looks like two 12 volt rails - one + . one -
