Hi I have a laptop and a belkin wireless router I want to set up security on.. My wifi mini pci card has these security features.. Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), WEP and 802.1x and is Cisco compatible with CCXv1 certification. My Belkin has the following features.. network security with wireless 64- and 128-bit WEP encryption and it has WPA, and WPA2 WEP2 security..
So how do I set this up so I am more "secure" and so that no one in my neighborhood can hack into my laptop?
I have never setup a secure wifi before I have always just relied on software based firewalls to protect me but I have two computers already connected and my ISP only allows for 3 so I dont want someone hacking into my wifi to get a free Internet connection. Even though I live in a very small town there are at least 4 other wifi networks I can pickup from my living room. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. I really dont have a clue. I do know my way around windows xp.. But Networking has always been one of the things I never really understood.
