ADC-20 - 44.1k vs. 48k
« on: January 15, 2004, 11:08:29 PM »
Stupid question but I couldn't seem to find the answer anywhere on the board - there are two flavors of GP ADC-20's. Is the only difference between them that one only outputs at 44.1k and one only outputs at 48k? I'm mulling over picking one up (currently going V2>D8 so there's room for improvement) and just thought I'd ask...

the only difference is the output sample rate.  fwiw the adc-20 is a pretty bright sounding a/d so i'm not sure how well it would pair w/ the v2.  i ran mp-2 > adc-20 for awhile and at the time i thought it was a decent combination since the mp2 added some nice warmth to the sound which made up for the adc-20.  i thought it was ok at the time but after listening to some old tapes i find that i enjoy my mp2 > d100 tapes more than my mp2 > adc-20 tapes, just my .02

Yeah - I've found while listening that my mics are a little heavy on the low end, so I'm thinking the ADC-20 might brighten them up a bit. Plus for $75 (!), I figure I can take a shot and see what happens... :) Thanks for the confirmation.

yeah, the only way to know for sure is to try it out and for $75 it is worth a shot.  :)

Someone else ended up taking it, but Jeff (thinkbig) was selling his for $100 so I grabbed his. On its way to me now. ;D
