Beginners Mic bar?
« on: July 01, 2018, 11:59:49 AM »
Good morning, I was looking for some advice on a starter Mic bar. I recently picked up some microphones and a recorder and I'm excited to start taping. Just looking for something I can mount my mics on and start recording. I am pretty handy at making things if anyone has any diy threads you can direct me to, or give me an idea of what to buy. I'm probably going to get the ravelli air cushioned stand from Amazon ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003TM600U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_7XooBb6JE82AH ) unless someone has a better suggestion in that price range, and I'll be using Nakamichi CM-300s with CP-1 or CP-4 capsules. Not looking to break the bank, I'm fine with something very simple I can just get started with.

Scott can create other configurations for you DIN and NOS would be good mounts to have.

EDIT:  Hi and Lo still has a $20 Shure A53M, which is what the SRS mounts for full bodies use.

The Shapeways mounts are an excellent recommendation and I use them myself!!  Please see the note at the bottom of the page that you were linked to:

IMPORTANT NOTE: Unless otherwise indicated, the mounts you see in this shop are designed to be used with a 20mm shock mount such as the Shure A53M, or a conventional 20mm microphone clip. Newer mounts are being designed to accommodate the Rycote INV-6 and INV-7 Lyre suspensions.  None of the mounts in this shop are designed to be mounted directly on a microphone stand.
