Best way to clip CA-14 cards to your shirt for stealthing?
« on: February 26, 2015, 10:52:22 PM »
First off, I do realize that many stealth issues are be best left to PMs.  If there's something you can help me with that shouldn't be posted publicly, please feel free to PM me.

I've owned my CA-14's for over a year now, but I've only used them a couple of times because I simply cannot find a logical way to clip them to my shirt.  The fixed-position clip (which is at a 90 degree angle to the orientation of the mic) always seems to leave the mics in the worst possible position when clipped to a shirt (i.e. pointing straight up or straight down).

I'm used to clipping much smaller mics to my shirt collar and just forgetting about them.  The CA-14's, however, are a bit too heavy for shirt collar mounting.  They always pull the collar down under their weight and the mics end up pointing toward the ground.

There are so many people stealthing with CA-14s that someone must have found a solution.  Everyone can't be hat mounting them?  FWIW, I really don't want cards clipped to my head/hat/glasses - I don't like the idea of not being able to move my head.

I've clipped CA-14 cards to the top of a shirt collar a couple of times with no problem. Yes, they pull the collar down a bit (to either side, so mics are still pointed forward), but that's not the worst thing, as it keeps them away from your neck. I personally prefer hat-mounted because I'm short, but either works.

Buy a shirt with a stiffer collar? Or figure out a way of reinforcing it?

May I please have a copy of that PM, also?  I'm considering CA-14s.  Thanks in advance.

@Hoppedup. I'd love a PM also. Just bought CA-14s about 2 weeks ago and am looking for best ways to wear/use them. Would much appreciate any insights/suggestions you have.
