2.1 setup question(accurate volume output across the system)
« on: November 21, 2004, 10:46:21 AM »
I bought the M-Audio Studiophile LX4 2.1 series monitors yesterday and the system has sub volume and master volume pots.

what is the best way to get the sub output volume inline with the satellite volume?
I'm looking for a accurate (not overdriving the sub or satellites) way to get these setup.
so far I've taken some cds that I know inside-and-out and played them on other systems(home stereo, car stereo, etc)
and tried to match the volume output on these speakers.

so far, this monitor system sounds great! it's no Genelec, but it's the best <$1000 setup my ears heard.
I checked out the KRK line at the store - low end is comparable, but the KRK 4s were toooo brite as satellites.

the water's clean and innocent

The absolute best way would be to get a sound level meter, and adjust the system accordingly until you get the same reading for all three. I believe Radio Shack sells a fairly inexpensive one.
