TASCAM DR2d setup for DUAL RECORDING
« on: September 14, 2016, 11:16:12 AM »
HEYA !
I already got a used TASCAM DR2d recorder 'cause I like to make 2 recordings with only one recorder  :D

Unfortunately I'm not getting the TASCAM working so I need some help from a nice TASCAM user from our board
to help with some hints and tricks and how to use all of the recorders features the right way.

Cause I am from germay it would be the best if we can  discuss in german  ;D

so please help me and feel free to get in contact with me
danke !

Hope you can translate if needed.....
A very important tip:
The "Line" level should be set at 95 or above..  do not go lower than 95...  or distortion can occur.
The "Mic"  level should be set at 67 or above..  do not go lower than 67...  or distortion can occur.

.....got a blank space where my mind should be.....

That and..

Set the recorder to DUAL_LINE mode to record both the mic input and line input to separate stereo files (Do so in the menu accessed by pressing the DUAL button while the recorder is stopped).

Pressing the DUAL button while recording or in record/pause switches the metering display back and forth between the two inputs (Note: the signal routed to the headphone/line-out jack is not switched along with the metering).

You can adjust the mic input level while recording (67 or higher as mentioned)
You cannot adjust the line input level while recording (but it needs to be set to 95 or higher anyway as mentioned, so only a very limited adjustment range is available)

As usual, best to turn auto-level control and the limiters off.

Infrared remote will still function when the recorder's hold-switch is engaged, which I find to be a quite useful feature.

Here are links to the primary DR2d discussion threads at TS-
TASCAM DR-2d - announced at NAMM
Tascam DR2d - part 2

Hope that helps, unfortunately I don't speak German.
