Taping at the Mall
« on: March 16, 2004, 08:56:14 PM »
Hah ! Laugh all you want...I'm proud of her.

Old friend got a gig at the mall (no South Park jokes, please)
Flute, guitar, piano.  All acoustic with minimal reinforcement.

I have a monopoly on the two mic recording.

Only have the Oktava MC-012 cards, am ordering a set of TLs.
Should I have the TL's Fed-Ex'ed in so that I'll have then for the weekend? or will the Oktavas suffice ?

How to tape this trio ? Wide open, floor level, small amps, sometimes a small PA with speaks on stands.... Bose, I think.
Spaced Omnis may get the walk-about noise, so X-Y ? ORTF ?
As cards or hypers ? Need a fast fix for a bar, I guess the Shure?

Music will be classical. Handel, Bach, some  ~~~~m0d3r n~~~~
(sort of Steven Riech minimalsim to my deceidedly pre-modern classical ears.) Lots of "air" and room for crowd noise.

All thoughts welcomed.
Northern NJ classical fans, PM me for details, if interested

i can't tell you how many middle school gigs i played at the mall.  They all were great.  I would still be playing the mall except the one we went to was knocked down 3 years ago.  Now in high school we just super markets and nursing homes.

i'd get the TL's if possibl ... they realy shine on acoustic instruments (well the LE's do ... and they are pretty damn simmilar)
ADK A-51s LE's > Oade W-mod UA-5 > Zoom H4n Pro if I bother to drag out a full rig. More often just the H4N Pro. My LMA tapes
