Title: CA-11 or CA-14 with NO battery box into Tascam dr-2D mic in for high SPLs ?
Post by: fandelive on May 21, 2018, 05:32:32 AM
Well, everything is in the title: anyone ever got a fine sounding tape when recording a loud show with CA-11 or CA-14 (omnis or cards) plugged directly into mic input of a Tascam dr-2D (or "mic in" from a device with similar specs) ?

Thanks!

You need a Marantz PMD620 which has 5 volts plug in power or a Sony  PCM D100

Agreed. Years ago I recabled some DPA 4061s for a member here and took them out for a test run before returning them. I was curious about the plug in power available on my small deck deck - a PMD620 - and was surprised to see 4.8V worth of plug in power available. Most pocket recorders have around 3V or less.

Thanks for replying. Tascam dr-2D user manual says it supports plug-in power, but gives no information about voltage.
I think I've read somewhere on this board that the Tascam mic input was equivalent to the Sony PCM D100, but I might be wrong...
