What AT mics are these?
« on: May 06, 2009, 06:06:20 PM »
I bought these Audio Technica omni mics many years ago from Sound Professionals and I can't find any info on them, nor do I remember what model they are. Does anyone know what they are?

Thanks

AT803, omnidirectional mics.

By the way, you can put AT831 (or other AT853 family caps) on these bodies.  They all wire the same also.

The 853 caps def don't fit on these though.

Did you actually try them?  I know they fit the AT831.  The caps are bigger in package, but the thread fits.
Let me know...

Yeah I tried them...they're too big. Don't screw on.

OK, thanks.  I stand corrected.  OK, that means you're stuck with only the omni caps, then.

I've never run these, so I don't know how they'll sound.  I imagine similar to the AT853.

Nahh I don't use them anymore. I've use the 943's with 853 caps now. I was just wondering what they were out of curiosity.

They don't sound anywhere near as good as the 853's IMO.

These have a bump on the low end, but can sound nice depending on the application.  I let my friend use these to record this and that.  I used 'em a few times too with mixed results.
