Do you think that strength is an issue with any of the stands I've posted? I'm running 2 small diaphragm condensers so nothing heavy, but I'm just worried things will wobble too much, especially if it is windy.

No...strength usually isn't an issue for mic stands, IMHO.  There's no stand made that won't sway some when you have a pound or so up on top of a 10 to 13 foot long stick stuck up in a decent breeze.  It's more about how well you have it anchored at the base...either the stakes or the sandbags or whatever.

I'm going to chime in with a different opinion-- your OP makes it sound like you might just be interested in this stand for the DMB show and nothing else.  Though a stand is a great and invaluable tool, if you're worried about having enough scratch to get one you'll be happy with, you can probably reach out to tapers in your area, I'm sure someone will loan you theirs or provide clamp space

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I have plenty of time to decide what I'll do but your advice has been helpful.

Wow thank you for the response :). Very helpful. So I already have the 3/8" to 5/8" adapter that has come with my mics so that aside, would you recommend going the adapter route or going the clamp route? How much would I be looking at for a decent clamp?

Also, was looking at some more stands. http://www.amazon.com/Savage-Aluminum-Air-Cushioned-Lightstand-Section/dp/B000CC7I8I/ref=sr_1_31?ie=UTF8&s=photo&qid=1268707529&sr=1-31

Anyone have an experience with Savage stands?

I have a Savage 13-footer.  It's a big bastard in terms of footprint and is much less compact than a comparable Manfrotto.  For the relatively negligible difference in price, I would probably buy a Manfrotto, and in fact, will probably upgrade mine at some point.  Luckily for me I usually clamp + Manfrotto extension pole or other accessories, so I don't need a stand much.  As to the build quality it's air cushioned and seems pretty durable to me.  You can collapse the footprint somewhat by not putting down the middle part, but for a DMB show, I don't think I would do that.  In fact, as others have mentioned, for DMB you might consider the Manfrotto 7' extension pole clamped to a seat back or something.  That will give you about the same amount of height and a lot lower profile.

I like that idea but I'm worried about noise. I have shockmounts though. Think I'll be ok?

^^ I've found that when using shockmounts you are usually OK.  I have only had a problem once, and that is when I was clamped to a drink rail and not using mounts.  This kid next to me starts loudly drumming on the rail (made of wood).  It was a real bitch removing the "drumming" later.  Since then, I always use shockmounts and have never had an issue.  I still wouldn't want someone drumming the rail (or of course, my actual extension pole) but then, that's true no matter what you're doing.
