Something I was thinking about last night...

It would be possible to power a pair of AK caps via a Naiant PFA if the LC3 cable were reterminated. It could be done, just like Nola's split Schoeps KC setup, where you can use them both with the original KM100 bodies or the Naiant PFA.

Having owned LC3 cables, they are generally to long and unwieldy. Doing this would allow you to not only make them shorter, but use normal tech flex rather than side entry.

Some off-topic food for thought.

They're perfect for my 13' manfrotto stand, I wouldn't say that's ever too long, once they're wrapped in side entry techflex they are wielded quite easily and effectively.

Doing this would allow you to not only make them shorter, but use normal tech flex rather than side entry.

The idea of running them direct is intriguing but I would caution you to not use normal techflex even if you could, side entry works great and if you ever need to run a split you can quickly and easily undo them in the field and redo them when you are done. With normal techflex you'd be locked in, which would be annoying :)

TaperJ, thats why I had Chris Johnson[Busman Audio] leave 2' of cable thats NOT techflexed so I can split my omnis about 3' in the summer time, even tho I'll mostly be doing healy-method durinbg the festies outdoors :)

But yeah, Im SOOO FRICKIN GLAD I had Busman techflex my cables. Its just a single KCY cable and the techflexed Busmans single cable running down my stand. Very lo-pro and neat looking. Not to mention it makes the Busmans A LOT EASIER to deal with at the end of the night ;) ;D

Great stuff, I purchased some of this from you a while back, it worked nice to pair up and tidy my AKG active cables.  Had purchased more than I needed and used some of the left over to dress up the XM radio installation in my car.

Found it worked the neatest to cut it with a hot knife.

I just found 1/4" black Techflex F6 on FleaBay for $4.20/10'.  I ordered a 40' section and will cut them down for my 10m Neumann actives.  I will use the balance or order more for my Schoeps cables.

$.42 per foot is hella expensive?  I got 40' for $20 shipped.

Even if it is expensive I feel that $20 is still a good protection policy for my $300+ Neumann LC3 KA/10's.

$.60/ft is still a better price than most retail outlets list it for, and cheaper than quite a few list for their 100' rolls

anyone know what size would fit a double strand of Belden 1804?

No affiliation other than I just bought some.  Shipping was something like $3.15 and there is tax if you live in TN.  Luckily I am just over the border.   :P

I would say figure out the circumference (wrap a string around and measure the length) then err on the side of caution and go up a size.  So if the LC3 cable was <1/4" and 1/8" is too small it is better to go a little bigger so it covers when you coil.  Maybe one of our resident cable makers might send you a small sample slice or two?
