Blue Mikey2 >> iPod ?

Did a fast search and did not see this mentioned... But, I'm sure that someone has run these.

Is it a plausible ultra-low-profile rig ?

Not if you want to make a good recording. I don't have any experience with that mic directly, but you're not going to get "quality" results with a $100 mic.

Ideally you want to get your mics up higher, and split them which isn't possible with that mic.

Most people would suggest a Church Audio option. Cheapest rig I would run is Church CA-11's > Tascam DR-08. Ideally there would be a mic preamp (best option) or battery box (less expensive and smaller but not as good as the preamp) in between. Church makes battery boxes and preamps as well.

Too good to be true, I guess...
Two tiny mics that jack into an iPod Nano would be ridiculously easy to carry when traveling
Easy to power, as well, I'd guess

AT-943s and a CA-Ugly or CA-9100 can sound pretty good into the right little bit bucket.
But there's wires and power and power wires and points of failure to manage...

I want an SMT, flexible headband recorder with included 64GB of memory and adjustable full-range cardioid caps !

Sort of this, but for recording:

I'm looking forward to the recorder that is small enough to fit in my hat. I use a trucker style ballcap for recording stealth and it would be badass to have everything self contained in there. With 24 bit recording I feel comfortable setting my levels conservatively to record just about any show without checking my levels.

I feel like an ass wearing a trucker hat backwards at half the shows I stealth at. I just stick out like a sore thumb because most of the people don't even wear a hat let alone a backwards Jack Daniels hat! :P

Seriously though. CA-11 > Battery Box > Tascam DR-08 is a piece of cake to get into any venue. I've rolled into venues with a bigger setup WITH WANDS with no issues.
