*Grace Design Unveils new m801 Preamplifier*m801
<http://www.gracedesign.com/products/m801/m801.htm>
Grace Design first introduced its award winning model 801 8 channel
studio preamplifier in 1994. Now 12 years later, the company has
unveiled its successor: the m801. Designed for audio professionals in
the music recording, film scoring, live sound and fixed installation
markets, the m801 represents a new standard in capabilities and
performance for multi-channel mic preamps.

The m801 preamp is comprised of two components; the 2U, 19" rack mount
8-channel preamp and an external 1U, half width linear power supply. The
m801 enclosure shares the same industrial design as our reference
monitoring products and the m802 8-channel, remote controlled preamp.

The m801 features 8 balanced mic level inputs on female XLR connectors,
8 balanced line level outputs on male XLR connectors and an additional 8
balanced line level outputs on male XLR connectors. Both sets of analog
outputs (16 outputs) can be used simultaneously. The signal path of the
m801 is fully balanced from start to finish which provides a dynamic
range improvement of up to 3dB over that of the model 801. With its
increased output current capability, the m801 can drive audio lines that
can reach upwards of 1,500 feet without audio quality loss. Included on
each preamp channel is a dedicated ribbon microphone switch, which
shifts the preamplifier's entire gain range up 10dB while deactivating
48V phantom power, optimizing input impedance and bypassing the coupling
capacitors.

Commenting on the release of the m801, Michael Grace and Eben Grace
noted "For us, necessity has always been the mother of invention. We
began building an 8 channel mic preamplifier 12 years ago because we
needed it for our own critical, purist multi-track recording needs - for
which there was nothing available at that time. We never quite expected
the model 801 to be as successful as it became - it was just something
that we thought was a good, timely idea. So it is with gratitude and
fond remembrance that we roll the last model 801 off the line, but with
great excitement and pride that we welcome its successor - the m801."

The m801 carries an SRP of $4,895 (US) and is sold through Grace
Design's channel of authorized US dealers and international distributors.

i thought this had been out for a while now. we actually considered getting one for one of our live racks for here at work, but decided $5k for preamps was a bit over the top.

bah. I am more excited about the DAV BG-8! no frills, just SOUND! I ordered mine a while back!

BG-8 is the same circuit as BG No 1 and 2, 26 - 59 dB of gain, but has 1 HPF frequency 65Hz.earth lift+ 115/230 V switchable.
overloads at +29dBu[built for David Gilmour to record his world tour, he bought 64 channels, 8 units]
inputs are XLR ,outputs on 25 way d-type.

All killer, no filler!

Ive used an 801 a few times.  Extremly good sounding.  I like it better than the v3.  Punchier to my ears and very clean. And built like a tank, no plastic anything.
