Topic: Camcorder clamp?

Anyone know who sells a clamp for camcorders? Or an adapter that goes 5/8 to the small thread on top the bogan stands?

I might do some video recordings at festivals this year.

i was looking into this possibiliity last week infact at b&h. what i figured out would be the best (and WAY cheaper than the clamps on micsupply, which they also sell at b&h) would be a standard windtech clamp (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=298906&is=REG) and then 2 adapters, 5/8 to 3/8 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=232828&is=REG) and 3/8 to 1/4 (standard mounting for a camcorder) (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=5588&is=REG). the whole package would run you about $15. disadvantages to this system (versus the ones on micsupply) would be that you couldnt do much adjustment to the angle of the camera (it would face forward, and have no pan, zoom would still work though of course), but if you put it just above head level and faced it straight at the stage youd have a great rig. if you need any help finding all these parts PM me and i would gladly pick them up at b&h for you next time im there and ship them to avoid shipping costs from b&h (unless their shipping is reasonable, im not sure.) anyway, PM me if your interested

That clamp looks like a good starts. Seems like when may be able to attached a floating base head for a camera to sit on perhaps. Something like this , maybe?

What do you think?

I'm thinking if it's two heaving on one side of the stand to counter weight it or better yet just put another camera rig on the opposite side.

Other Heads

Some of you already have an umbrella clamp. I've already attached my camcorder to that atop the center post of my rig. I can still turn and pan to point the camera at the stage. But I don't want my camcorder so close to my mics because camcorders tend to buzz a bit.

Has anyone sent sound from a V3 to their camcorder? I have no idea how much to drop the signal with an attenuator. Trial and error?

those heads are definitely pretty sweet, but im sure they would create alot of weight as you said, maybe even too much for the wintech clamp to handle. i dont know about running audio into the camcorder from the v3. i was thinkin that if i start doing this id just add the audio from my 24-bit recordings (i use a laptop) in post, and that way the tapes would be true DVD quailty audio and i could burn them to dvds .

I also use a V3 for lappie recordings but just to be safe I do a backup to a JB3 with the mic outs to line in on the jb3. I figure I might be able to send this to the camcorder instead. The video tape speed will most likely not be in sync for an entire show with the lappie audio without tweaking. I'm just trying to save the step of having to dubb the audio if I can grab the V3 audio correctly in the first place. It would save time of having to sync it up perfectly.

hmmm, convert 24/96 to 16/44.1 for video DVD. I'll take your word for it. I've only burned two DVD-A discs so far. Perhaps another four this week.

wait, maybe im mistaken here, arent dvd-v discs 24 bit audio as well...or cant they be...correct me if im wrong here

Honestly, I haven thought that far. It didn't come across my mind that regular video dvds play 24bit audio. Not sure my video software can handle 24 bit software as well.
