Title: Mic Stand Bar for CA-14's
Post by: RyanJ on April 22, 2019, 07:26:35 PM
Friend was wondering what a good bar was for a mic stand to run CA-14s as well as AT853s. Anyone got some good suggestions?

Thanks!

Some people run those flexible T mounts but SRS also makes mounts for 853s.

Yo! That site is badass! Thanks for that! Could definitely use some of those myself!

What is a decent stand that doesn't have a big footprint and can go to like 8-9'? I guess I'm jumping on this now. ha!

If you're talking about the CA-14 omnis, the DIN spacing will be far too narrow for virtually all applications.  Get some telescoping TV antennae.  There are threads on here about it.

SRS is the way to go for AT853s IMO.

I have this and it’s a pain in the butt trying to get them to stay in.  I don’t know if it is just mine and the way the epoxy has set on the outside, or if they are all a bit touchy.

In theory, yeah, but they’ll sound fine closer together. Recorded open with CA11omnis a few weeks ago about 6in apart and they sound fantastic.

Nos or wider for Omni. I made a holder out of 1/2" cpvc pipe ( the high pressure stuff) w a cpl 45* elbows. Manfrotto 99b pole w a folding removeable tripod base.

If we are going to get technical, isn't the average distance between your ears like 17cm? Which is ~6inches. So seems decent for me.

You can reduce the distance between the omnis by using a baffle
