6 volt mini-me power question....
« on: January 24, 2005, 06:30:00 PM »
Can the 6 volt mini- me run on other power sources like the 9 volt LI battery from Walmart, or a 12 volt battery?  Curious if this would increase heat in the unit.....   I know that 6 volts are usually wired with pins 2 and 3 active, and 12 volts use pins 1 and 4 of the 4 pin connectors ( industry standard)

Any info appreciated........I love the look and size of the 9 volt from Walmart

from the mini-me manual...

"The Mini-Me's low power consumption makes it ideal for battery operation.  The standard power unit (included) supplies 12v DC at up to 1.25A (connector is center-positive), but the unit can be run on sources from 6 to 14 volts DC.  Several suitable battery packs are available from third-party suppliers."

I get 5 hours run-time with the Walmart LiIon 9v battery powering my Mini-Me and DAT deck.
I'm only carrying lead for festivals now.
I've never had any heat related issues with this combination... or any combination for that matter.
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.
