Post by: jmerin on December 02, 2015, 04:06:34 PM
Is there a way to see where an audio file peaks in sound forge 11? I know in wave lab it is called global analyze.
Thanks

I haven't used Sound Forge in a while, but I think it is Tools > Statistics.

^ I am pretty certain that method does not actually "show" you where the peaks are. If there is a way that would be splendiforous as I've just manually scrolled through the entire file looking for the loudest peaks (usually a clap or something), and for my purposes dropping them down a db or 2

edit to include:

Another feature I use a lot in Sound Forge is under Process then Normalize (keyboard short cut Alt/P/N) and from this window I click on "Scan Levels" and this will go through the file (or just a single channel) and will tell me what the loudest peak is. Helps me figure out how much to boost the overall gain, if needed.

(scroll down about 1/2 way)
