9V rechargeables - possible breakthrough!
« on: September 15, 2006, 11:20:01 AM »
Not sure if this has been discussed, but I stumbled upon a thread in one of the google groups.  It seems a company named IPower has developed a 500mah rechargeable lithium 9V battery, on par with alkalines.  If you run a Sonosax, Aerco, or the Deneckes, this is a major breakthrough.  No more throwing out half charged alkalines after a gig.

Here they are at Thomas Distributing for $15.00/ each

The charger $33.00

i have the powerex 9V NiMH 230 mAh.

are these any good, i have not used them yet.

I thought they would be better than alkaline life?

Will these last longer than regualr 9V's

whats the differnece between 230 and 500 mAh?  is the upgrade that much better?

please advise

500mAh will last about 2 times as long as 230 mAh.

mAh is basically how large a batteries gas tank is.

Well now I'm not sure. See here where these won't power manamana's Sax properly.

They also don't provide enough current to run my DaviSound DC preamp, regular 9Vs do fine.

kindguy, thanks again, that's the link i've been looking for.  so it looks like it's still alkalines in the sxm2, what a waste.

If you're gonna buy 4 of the batteries and the charger (I would since I have the AD-20 and PS-2 to power), I think a much better deal is to just buy a Powerrunner....I have one for each (bought one with a $25 rebate) and no longer worry about power regardless of show length.
